Our families are so very fortunate however we know that others in our
community are not. So the team decided collectively that it would look for a
way to spread some holiday cheer and give back to our community this holiday
season. We decided to participate in the 2018 Holiday Program organized by the
Children’s Aid Foundation of Halton.
Initially we planned on participating in the Family Hamper Program however we were asked if we would like to sponsor three youths instead as they often get overlooked during the holidays. We immediately accepted!
On Saturday November 24, 2018 the Milton Minor Atom A team, their parents and coaches met at Walmart before their scheduled practice. The boys were divided into 3 groups, each one representing one of the youths we sponsored. Each group had to check as many things off the wishlists as possible. The boys also had to stay within their budget. The boys were definitely up to the task! Walmart however may never be the same again!!
It was amazing to watch the boys take great pride in trying to fill the lists, thinking carefully as to what they should buy but more importantly to see their happiness to be participating and contributing to such a worthwhile cause! This all wouldn’t have been possible without the support of all the coaches and parents. It was a great team effort!
We truly hope the gifts are appreciated and that we were able to bring a little joy to each of the youths we sponsored this year!
