U16 BB - Chris Scherer
Chris comes from a hockey family, with a grandfather and aunt in the hockey hall of fame, and a father who played at the highest level of his time. He grew up playing hockey in Milton, playing for both Milton Minor Hockey and the Halton Hurricanes. He was an elite baseball player, football player and accomplished 2 handicap golfer as a young man.

 Once high school ended, Chris was a top prospect, highly recruited throughout Ontario for football, and went on to have a successful career as a Laurier Golden Hawk Football player. He experienced sport at an elite level in Waterloo, and brings that life to his players through his teaching and competitiveness. Playing university football, along with the years he spent with the Hurricanes and Winterhawks, gave Chris the opportunity to play for amazing coaches, play with amazing young athletes and truly see what it takes to be successful as an elite athlete. With 8 years of hockey coaching experience across multiple levels of competition, Chris is highly knowledgeable of the game and able to motivate players to maximize their performance. Chris was coach of the year in 2022 with Milton Minor hockey, and coach of the year for Milton Minor Baseball in 2020. On top of coaching his 3 boys, he has volunteered with MMHA for many years conveying house league hockey, holding a board seat as IP director and helping with many programs and policies across the league that are in place today. His approach drives a positive team environment through collaboration, hard work, and fun. He prides himself on knowing his players on a personal level, coaching with consistency, discipline and humor, while working throughout the year to mentor each individual player, creating positive outcomes for their growth as young leaders.
