Good evening everyone. Thank you all for all of your hard work and efforts the tryout season. Players did their best and should hold their heads up high; it takes courage to tryout and all players displayed tremendous character and positive attitudes throughout. As I mentioned to all players prior to the first AHL tryout - I expect players to be humble and kind given many players attend the same schools or play on other sports teams together. Being cut from a team hurts; players that made this team may have been cut from B or A and know how it feels. Having experienced being cut myself in my playing days, I can speak from the heart in that these experiences build character. I know it is tough on players, and tougher on parents who want the best for their child. I encourage everyone to continue to develop their skills, get on the ice or play road hockey as often as they can, and enjoy playing the game since this is supposed to be about having fun.
Congratulations to those who made the team. To those that didn't, know that I am proud of you for trying. Below are a few quotes that I hope all players will appreciate:
"You miss 100% of the shots you don't take." - Wayne Gretzky
"It may not work out how you think it will or how you hope it does. But believe me, it will all work out." - Ted Lasso
- Coach Lucho
