MILTON WINTERHAWKS U16AA TRI COUNTY CHAMPIONS!!!
On Thursday, March 23, the U16AA Milton Winterhawks travelled to Niagara Falls to play for the Tri County Championship. It was not an easy path to the finals as the U16AA had dropped two games early in the Tri’s, meaning every game was a MUST WIN. After the early disappointments the team rallied to pull off an unbelievable 6 game win streak beating some of the top teams in the league, like Oakville Red and Garden City. The semis put them against Orangeville, where Milton pulled off an OT 4-3 win placing them in the finals against Niagara Falls, the regular season top team. Milton took the lead early against Niagara Falls and were the better team for two periods with every line rolling. The 3rd period Niagara Falls rallied to tie it 3-3 putting the game into OT. Milton rose to the challenge and scored 40 seconds into OT making them the U16AA Tri County Champions and the number one team in the league. A true underdog story!! A team peaking at the right time, players who believe in themselves and their coaches. The players should be proud of themselves!!! What an AMAZING accomplishment!! LETS GO GET THAT RED HAT!!!
