U13AA Wins Golden Horseshoe Hockey Classic!
From December 28-30 2022, the Milton Winterhawks U13AA team competed in The Golden Horseshoe Hockey Classic.
After 3 competitive games in the round robin our Winterhawks won a tough fought semi-final game 1-0 in OT over the host Burlington Eagles.
The Championship game was a nailbiter against the Oakville Rangers. Milton took an early 1-0 lead just 43 seconds into the game and held that lead into the second period. After Oakville scored to tie it up, Milton rebounded 10 seconds later to take a 2-1 lead. The teams battled back and forth, with the Winterhawks sitting ahead 3-2 after two periods. Milton came on strong in the third, scoring two more to make it 5-2. The Rangers tried to rally back against Milton's offensive pressure and solid defense, but only managed one more goal in the third period, making the final score 5-3 Milton, for the Championship.
The coaching staff, parents and families are all very proud of the team and are looking forward to an exciting second half of the season!
