Congratulations to our Award Winners!
At last month's Annual General Meeting, the MMHA Board of Directors was pleased to present its Eric Ellison Memorial Coach of the Year Awards for Rep and House League, and its President’s Award to deserving individuals from our association who have gone above and beyond in their roles.

We as an association are very fortunate to have great volunteers that allow us to provide top quality programming for our players. Every year we get the honor of selecting one of those volunteers to be our House League Coach of the year. The Eric Ellison Memorial Houseleague Coach of the Year Award was presented to Warren Locke. Warren is a coach who exemplifies the attributes that make our organization great. He has been a volunteer with us since 2019 and for the past 2 seasons has coached 2 house league teams per year,  receiving rave reviews in the process. In addition to the regular season commitment, this coach also encourages team participation in outside tournaments which the players and parents thoroughly enjoyed. Providing these experiences helps to further foster a love of our game and provides invaluable experiences on and off the ice.  Please join us in congratulating Warren Locke for his contributions to his teams, his commitment to player development and dedication to MMHA as a whole.  Congratulations Warren!

This year's Eric Ellison Memorial Rep Coach of the Year Award was presented to Mike Roy in recognition of his exceptional dedication to player development and his years of service to minor hockey in the Halton region. Mike's journey in supporting local hockey began in 2016 and since then he has been an invaluable asset to the Twisters, Hurricanes and the Milton Winterhawks. Over the years, Mike has held various roles within these teams, from trainer to assistant coach, and most notably as head coach.  In each position Mike has demonstrated unwavering commitment to the athletes he works with, always focusing on fostering their growth both as players and as individuals.  Mikes passion for helping players reach their full potential is evident in his tireless efforts, countless hours of coaching and his belief in the importance of skill development.  His guidance has shaped the careers of many young athletes and his impact on their lives extends far beyond the rink.  Please join us in congratulating Mike Roy for his remarkable contributions to the MMHA and his continued commitment to developing the next generation of hockey talent.  His legacy of hard work, dedication and mentorship is an inspiration to us all Congratulations Mike!

At the end of the evening, MMHA President Aaron Fernandes presented the President's Award, also known as the volunteer of the year award to Sean Klaver. Sean has been a dedicated volunteer with MMHA since 2014, holding many bench positions including that of head coach.  This past season Sean coached MMHA's inaugural U21 AA team. His objective in spearheading this new team is to ensure players have the option of continuing to play our game.  Participating in the Beechy league, Milton's U21 team not only won the tier 1 league finals, but were also finalists at the OMHA Championships.   Congratulations Sean!
