Minor Atom ‘AE’ Bring Home Second Tournament Win From the US
Submitted By Muriel Haynes on Monday, December 8, 2014
The Minor Atom ‘AE’ Milton WInterhawks brought home their second tournament win of the season this past weekend. At the beginning of the season, the team visited Cleveland for the “Rock’n’Roll” Classic and brought home the ‘Tier 2’ Championship. This success was led by Assistant Captain Aidan Baratto, who won the tournament MVP, and provided a solid effort on defence by keeping the other teams from scoring or getting to the net.

This past weekend, Black Friday and long line-ups at the border couldn't stop our young Winterhawks. On Sunday, team Captain Ty Dumesnil hoisted the championship plaque high in victory as they closed out their undefeated weekend. Captain Ty led the team with both effort and points with 9.  He was strongly supported by the team’s leading scorer and linemate Nico Pereira who contributed 8 points. Nico’s outstanding efforts earned him the tournament MVP, and he gave a big smile when he was told that he had won the honour.

The coaching staff and parents are all buzzing about the team’s effort and the fact that they are coming together at the right time. With a 7-1-2 record in their last 10 games, the entire team can really hold their heads high.

With the “Wayne Gretzky Invitational” Christmas tournament on the horizon, the future looks promising....hopefully, MMHA will have to make room for more hardware in the trophy case!!!!

Stay tuned!!!
