Vaccine proof deadline
Dear Members,

It is great to see all the players back on the ice and enjoying the game of hockey again.

We would like to thank all the people that have made this happen, from our many volunteers, parents and staff, as well as the Town of Milton. It has truly been a team effort.

As we approach the beginning of league games we wanted to go over a few items to ensure we have a successful start to the season.

Vaccine Policy: As originally communicated in early September all players, coaches, team staff and board members born in 2009 or earlier registered to participate in OMHA sanctioned activities must be fully vaccinated (two weeks after second dose of an approved vaccine) by October 31st, 2021 in order to participate.

As we are a member organization of the OMHA anyone who is not fully vaccinated at that time will be unable to participate in any Milton Minor Hockey Association activity until they provide proof of being fully vaccinated. This applies to both House league and Representative players, volunteers and staff.

Please upload the proof of vaccination to our website so your player does not miss any hockey. This policy has been communicated many times in the past 45 days and as such the Milton Minor Hockey Association refund policy is applicable to all refund requests. Please read the OMHA vaccination policy here which outlines what is required and what steps are required if you want to request an exemption.

Access to Milton recreational facilities: Right now all non-participants born in 2009 or earlier who wish to enter a Town of Milton recreational facilities are required to provide proof of double vaccination in addition to government issued ID. Currently, players and rostered coaches are exempt when entering the facility to participate in an activity.

Effective November 26, 2021 everyone born in 2009 or earlier who wishes to enter a Town of Milton recreational facility, including those participating in activities (players, coaches, team staff), will be required to provide proof of double vaccination in addition to showing government issued ID. That means everyone born in 2009 or earlier will need to have proof of being fully vaccinated (or an approved exemption) to enter into a Town of Milton recreational facility. Please read the announcement here.
Be prepared when coming to the facility: Now that the restriction as to how far in advance you and your player can arrive before your ice time has been eliminated, this should help alleviate the backlog that sometimes happens when entering facilities. Having said that here are a couple of items we need your help with.

Please have your proof of vaccination and ID ready before you enter the rink. Please be courteous to the Covid screeners at all times. They are there to do a job and enforce a provincial/regional mandate and do not need to be disrespected or subject to comments about your thoughts on the task they are performing.

As stated previously,  we will not hesitate to discipline anyone who chooses to not act in a respectful manner to Town of Milton and MMHA staff or volunteers. We are here to ensure the player can participate in hockey while minimizing the risk to all spectators and participants.

Thank you in advance for your help with these items.

We are looking forward to getting the regular season underway and seeing the smiles on all the players faces as they get back to playing the great game of hockey.
Take care,
