2021-22 Registration Information
Welcome to the 2021-22 MMHA On-line Registration.

PLEASE READ ALL INFORMATION THOROUGHLY. All players will register in House League (regardless of intentions to attend rep tryouts) for their actual division based on year of birth.

Registration opens June 17th and closes August 15th or earlier if spaces fill.

We will post a "REGISTRATION" button on the homepage of our website.  Please wait till this unique to Milton button is posted to start the process.

Registration is not considered complete or confirmed until full payment has been received and the
one-time Parent Respect in Sport Online course has been completed (additional charge-approximately $14). If you have completed this already, please do not repeat.
New players will also be required to submit proof of age and residency prior to registration being confirmed.
Parents/guardians registering their players are required to read through this material prior to registering.  By registering for the season, the family acknowledges their understanding of, and agreement with all the following:

  • Registration is limited to a certain number of teams, predetermined by available ice.  All registrations are treated on a first come, first served basis.  Divisions may fill prior to the end of the Early Bird.  Once a division is full, you will not be able to register online.  Please follow the directions on the front of our website to be placed on a waiting list.
  • Changes to Ontario Hockey Federation regulations regarding Representative Programs for the 2021/22 season: Prior to all Rep and MD tryouts for U8-U11, it is mandated to have 4 preparatory on-ice sessions. • COVID Precautions for Try Outs: The MMHA is following best practice precautionary measures for player safety relating to COVID-19 for try outs. Each player participating in try outs will be provided with a numbered pinnie which they will be responsible to bring to each tryout sessions they participate in. Please note that if a player does not bring their pinnie with them to a try out, they will not be permitted to participate in the try out and this may result in the player not being selected for a Representative team. At the end of their participation in try outs, the player will keep the pinnie. The cost of the pinnie is included in the try out fees.
  • Representative Try Outs:  Tryout schedules and process will be posted on our website once ice is confirmed.  Any player/goalie wishing to try out for an MD or REP team must be signed up and paid in full, by July 5th to be able to participate. Tryout fees apply.  Please choose the appropriate tryout package based on your player’s age and only pay if you are interested in trying out for a rep or MD team.

  • Returning players can register online using Visa Debit, Visa, or MasterCard until the close of registration, or until the division is full, whichever comes first.  Please take the time to verify/update contact information on your player’s Hockey Canada profile.
  • New players can now create their player profiles and register online.  We are obligated to verify age and residency.  Your registration will not be confirmed until required documentation is received, and the mandatory Respect in Sport Parent online course is complete and on file. Do not repeat this course if you have completed it for another player.
  • Respect in Sport Parent Program:  The OMHA mandates that one parent/guardian of every player complete the Respect in Sport Parent Program.   Due to OMHA regulations, players will not be allowed on the ice for any MMHA event until this course has been completed.   There is a separate charge for this course, paid to the Respect Group, which manages the online program.
  • New to Milton? Please note that if your child has previously played for another Centre, you will be unable to register with MMHA until an Association Transfer has been completed through the OMHA.  To initiate a transfer, please forward your child's name, address and date of birth to transfers@miltonwinterhawks.com.
  • Special Requests: The MMHA does not accept special requests to play for coaches or with friends.  Our focus is team balancing, in an attempt to ensure every player in the association has a fair and equitable season.
  • Sibling Discount: 3rd & Subsequent Family Member Flat Early Bird Registration Fee:  Milton Minor Hockey offers a third and subsequent family member flat early bird registration fee of $305.00.  This fee is applied to the youngest family member.  In the event the youngest family member is U5/Beginner, the flat early bird registration fee will be $220.00 for the U5/Beginner-age child. ·         Tournament Volunteers:  The MMHA hosts several tournaments through the season.  Volunteers are needed in the tournament office and with timekeeping. Please contact [email protected] for more information.

·         Bench staff:  Volunteers can help in various ways with our teams.  To comply with regulations set by the OMHA (Ontario Minor Hockey Association) bench staff require the following:

o    Respect in Sport Activity Leader course.  The link can be found on our website under the “Coaches Corner” tab. We will repay for the course. This is not the mandatory parent course, rather it is a course for coaches and bench staff.

o    Gender Identity and Expressions online course.  The link can be found on our website under the Clinics and Certifications tab. The course is free.

o    Current (within three seasons from date of issue) police check that includes a Vulnerable Sector Screen.

o    Each team requires a coach.  The coach must have specific coach qualifications as set out by the OMHA, along with above listed items.

o    Each team requires a trainer.  The trainer course link can be found on our website under the Managers/Trainers Corner tab.  The trainer helps educate people in the prevention, recognition and management of hockey-related injuries. The trainer also requires the Respect course, gender course and police check.  We repay for the course.

o    Other courses that may be required by the Ontario Minor Hockey Association.

Please understand that these mandatory qualifications must be met within two weeks of the beginning of the season, or a team may be required to forfeit ice time until such time as they are met.

  • Interested in Sponsoring? MMHA is grateful to all our wonderful sponsors who, through their generous donations, help keep hockey affordable for over 1,800 players in Milton.  Sponsors can gain exposure through jersey bars, logos on website, tourney sponsorship, signage and more. If you are interested in more information, or in sponsoring a team, please visit our website and navigate to the Volunteers/Sponsors tab or contact [email protected] directly.
  • Our Season:
    • Ice Schedule:   The season schedule is typically available online as of the end of summer, once the Town has released our ice permits and registration numbers are finalized.  We do our best to keep the house league schedule the same from season to season, however alterations to times may be necessary depending upon availability of ice.
    • House League Season: Our coaches, convenors, IP Director and VP House will draft teams in early September. The season typically starts end Sept./early Oct. and runs until the end of March.  Balancing of teams is typically complete by mid November, however players may move teams up until the end of December.  Your coach will be in contact by mid to end September with your team placement.

  • Online Schedules and Information: Please check our website regularly for updates regarding tryouts, schedules, and other pertinent information.   Information regarding Jumpstart and other funding programs, mandatory hockey equipment, and schedules can all be found on the website. Once the season has started, it is the parent’s responsibility to check their schedule weekly.  MMHA is not responsible for missed games due to scheduling changes.
  • MMHA Policies: All Members of the MMHA, including parents, players and volunteers are required to familiarize themselves with, and abide by all MMHA policies, including the MMHA Code of Conduct, Social Media/Networking Policy, Helmet Policy and Goalie Fair Play Guidelines.  The documents can be found on our website at under the MMHA Policies/Library tab.
  • Medical Information Sheet:  All players are required to provide their team trainer with a completed Player Medical Information Sheet at their first ice time.
  • Concussion Pre-Season Baseline Testing It is recommended that once a year, before each new season, a player has an IMPACT baseline test.  This is a computerized cognitive test takes 30-40 minutes and the cost is typically covered under most benefit packages with physiotherapy allowances.  Parents/Guardians are required to familiarize themselves with MMHA’s Concussion Protocol.
