2020-21 Season Extension April 5th - May 31st
Submitted By Tanya Croke on Monday, March 15, 2021
Dear members,

The extension of the 2020-21 season mentioned in our last communication has been approved by OHF/OMHA. Based on the feedback provided by our membership the MMHA will be participating in this extended season and has worked with the Town of Milton to secure the ice time required.

The season extension will be for both the house league and representative programs but unfortunately the OHF/OMHA has only approved this extension for those players currently enrolled in the U10 and older age groups.

The extension will see programming commence on Monday April 5, 2021 and end on Monday May 31, 2021. If we remain in the Red zone on the Ontario government Covid-19 colour scale each player will have a minimum of 1 ice time per week for 8 weeks consisting of skills and drills. If we move to the orange level our intent is to provide programming that consists of game play and practices and additional ice time will be provided based on availability. If we are unable to complete the programming a prorated refund will be provided.

So how do you ensure your player has a spot in this extended season? If you want to stay and play during the April-May time you do not need to do anything as your player is currently enrolled and your spot is secured. The cost of the additional ice will come out of the refund money that would have been provided to those players for the September to March part of the season.

We understand that some players do not want to continue past the end of March due to various reasons. For those of you who do not wish to continue, we ask that you fill out the refund request form (link below) by 5:00pm on March 21st, 2021. Unfortunately due to time restraints and commitments made to the Town of Milton for ice requirements, refund requests will not be approved after that time. Those of you who participated in the U9 and under age groups do not have to fill out the form as you are not eligible for the extended programming and as such you will automatically be receiving a refund. As noted on our last communication refunds will be processed by April 30,2021.

Once we have these responses, we will be able to determine if we need to adjust team rosters to ensure we have 10 players per team whenever possible. Our intent is to keep the current team rosters in place but if the numbers drop then, we might need to adjust teams accordingly. The ability to provide programming is subject to having the required number of coaches/trainers for each team. Once we have everything confirmed in terms of player numbers, coaches and ice times we will be releasing the schedule. Our goal is to keep the ice as close to same times as currently provided but changes may be required.

We want to thank everyone for their patience this season as we have tried to stick handle through the many obstacles that have presented themselves this year. We feel the benefits of keeping our players active and engaged during these trying times are well worth the effort everyone has put in this year. Thank you again to our coaches, trainers, volunteers and parents for keeping our player safe and engaged this year.

All the best and stay safe.
