2020-21 Return to Play Rep Tiers
Submitted By Tanya Croke on Monday, August 31, 2020
Winterhawk Families,
There have been many questions regarding how “rep” teams will be put together for the upcoming season. The MMHA has had many questions for our governing bodies regarding this same issue as well.

Due to the fact tryouts are not currently permitted, any player who registers this season, that was on an MMHA representative roster during the 2019-20 season, and wants to continue to play at that level, will be placed on a “rep” roster this year if space permits.

I use the term “rep” loosely as here will be no games outside our organization in the near future, there will  be more concentration on development.

We still want to group our players so that they will be participating with others of similar skill level taking into account the makeup of last year’s teams. The placement process will be conducted by a panel consisting of the representative coaches (of the age group) that were previously selected for the upcoming season. I will oversee the process to make sure kids are placed as fairly as possible.

Teams may consist of up to 9 skaters and a goalie which means there may be up to 20 players per full squad (2 teams of up to 10), which will share a coaching staff.

Due to the limited amount of ice time the Town can provide us this year, we need each team to have 10 players when at all possible. As such with a goal of filling the 10 per roster, there will be player and/or goalie spots to be filled.

These spots can be taken from any other player who registers with MMHA no matter where they played last year.

Placements will be at the discretion of the aforementioned panel.

We ask that you have patience during this process and understand that during these unprecedented times we will do our best to achieve results which will be in the best interest of all players.

Thank you.
Craig Chapman
