Milton Atom AA Winterhawks raise $4,550 to pay for surgeries for kids in Uganda

Headline:  Milton Atom AA Winterhawks raise $4,550 to pay for surgeries for kids in Uganda   Article text:  The Milton Atom AA Winterhawks recently completed a fundraising activity that will see them pay for life-changing surgeries for three kids in Uganda.  

The team held a holiday dinner raffle to raise funds for a Waterloo-based charity called One4Another and its 18th Man program.  The program pairs teams up with similarly aged youth in Uganda who are in need of medical attention for mobility issues such as club foot and other ailments that affect their ability to live a normal life.     The Winterhawks set out to raise $1,200 - the cost of an Achilles heel surgery for its 18th man, Paul.  Paul has not been able to touch his heel to the ground due to an illness early in his life.     The fundraiser has been so successful that the team is now able to help two additional children.  As a positive footnote to the campaign, the winner of the draw, Dean Cavanaugh, donated the $250 grand prize back to the team to help in its efforts.   The team would like to thank all those who participated in the raffle, and those who helped spread the word through social media.
