General Information, 2021-22 Milton Invitational Tournament, 2021-2022 (Milton Minor Hockey)

This Tournament is part of the 2021-2022 season, which is not set as the current season.
PrintGeneral Information
Tournament Rules:

1. This Tournament will play under O.M.H.A and/or C.A.H.A / O.H.F rules. The tournament committee reserves the right to make decisions regarding the interpretation of the rules and all decisions of the committee will be final.

2. All teams must be ready to play 15 minutes prior to their scheduled game time.  If the tournament is ahead of schedule and the officials are prepared to start the game, teams must be prepared to play.

 

3. All teams will play a minimum of four (4) games prior to the finals/championship game.  Teams are required to bring two sets of jerseys if possible with the home team to wear light colored jerseys.  Teams may dress a maximum of 17 players and 2 goalies.

 

4. Any player who receives a fighting major will be disqualified from the remainder of the tournament.   All suspensions not completely served during tournament play will carry forth to regular league play (O.H.F. minimum suspension list is in effect).   

 

5. Body Contact is not permissible in the U13 and below.

 

6. All Players must wear CSA approved helmets, facemasks and BNQ neck protectors. The O.M.H.A. has a “mandatory mouth guard” policy for all OMHA Registered Players.  It should be noted that teams from outside the OMHA are required to wear mouth guards if mandated by their governing body. (Currently, OHF Member Partner teams registered with the Alliance and the GTHL are not required to wear mouth guards). 

 

7. Tournament Game Times - 2 minute warm-up:

10x10x12: U13-U15

10x15x15: U16-U18

12x15x15:  All Semis and Championship games



8. All games are stop time.   Mercy Rule: if a 5-goal differential should occur any time in the third period, running time will apply.  Stop time will resume if the goal spread reverts to a three (3)-goal difference. If the score becomes a five (3)-goal spread again, running time will resume.

9. Timeout Rule

                1.  1 - 30 second timeout PER GAME only in the Semis and Finals
                2.  No timeouts allowed during overtime

 

10. Games- If still tied after regulation, a 3 man shootout will follow with shooters going at the same time for both teams. If still tied, the shootout will continue to sudden death. Each player must be used once before they can shoot again

 

11. Points will be awarded as follows: 2 points for a win/shootout win, 1 point for a shootout loss, 0 points for a loss

12. Division with 5 teams: Each team will play 4 round robin games and the top 2 teams will advance to the finals. 

13. Division with 4 teams: Each team will play 3 round robin games and all 4 teams move on to the semis. 1st place will play 4th place and 2nd place will play 3rd place. Winners from the semis will play in the Championship game.


14. In the event of a tie in points upon completion of the regular round robin, the tie-breaking procedure will be as follows: The team having the best record against each other (head or head) shall be awarded the higher position.

 

1.       Head to head

2.       Second Tiebreaker: The team having the most wins utilizing all games of the tournament shall be awarded the higher position.

3.       Third Tiebreaker:  Divide ALL goals for in round robin games by total goals.  The team with the higher percentage will advance.
Formula:  = Goals For / (Goals For + Goals Against)
Example:  GF 10; GA 4:   10 divided by 14 = .714

4.       Fourth Tiebreaker:  The team with the least amount of penalty minutes throughout the round robin game

5.       Final Tiebreaker:  The team that scored earliest in any round robin game.

 

15. - Semi-Finals/Championship Games- games needing extra time will be as follows, 0ne 5 minute overtime 3on3. If still tied, a 3 man shootout will follow with shooters going one at a time. If still tied, the shootout will continue to sudden death. Each player must be used once before they can shoot again.


16. 
The tournament director shall decide on any rule in question during this tournament. Their decision shall be final. There will be no protests regarding a referee's penalty call.

 

17. The aim of the tournament is to provide an opportunity for the players to participate in a tournament that will increase their skills and promote good sportsmanship. The Milton Winterhawks support the CHA/OHF Harassment and Abuse policy and expect that no players, coaches, managers, trainers and spectators will create situations that are in opposition to this aim.

 

18. The score for a defaulted game shall be 3-0 for the non-offending team.

19. Finalist and Championship awards for each division will be presented after the final game.   

 

20. The Milton Minor Hockey Referees Association assigns all referees to work the tournament games and is governed by the O.M.H.A. The Milton tournament committee is independent of the O.M.H.A and has no say over who is assigned to referee.

 

21. Any player or team responsible for the destruction of public or tournament property will be deducted 2 points from the results chart.  The penalty for any destruction during/after the last schedule game will result in a minimum $100 fine, plus the coverage costs associated to repairing/replacing any damaged materials
