Dryland training
Thank you to everyone that participated in our dryland session last night. We covered a great deal of information.

The coaches covered our defensive zone coverage and our offensive zone attack. All of these concepts were covered in our power point presentation. It seemed like some of the players were hearing these concepts for the first time.
Please have the players review the presentation again. The concepts will be easier to absorb once we have reviewed them in person.
I would like the players to have a good sense of how we want to manage the ice before we play in the tournament.
The coaches introduced concepts and then asked questions to understand the level of understanding of the players. We encourage the players to ask questions and give responses to make the sessions more interactive and increase the learning.
The players were very enthusiastic and willing to receive new concepts. The coaches feel confident that we will see a great deal of improvement in their positional play early on.
Everything that the players have learned to this point has been age appropriate. The boys have individual skills. The coaches are looking to unify their efforts to make for better team play.
All the skaters will learn the concepts for all positions so that they can all get involved in the play regardless of what position is stated on their rookie card.

Although the players are involved in other sports during the summer, I feel that hockey specific training is different than the summer sports. Hockey is a very liquid game that requires quick starts and stops and much of their efforts spent with their legs in the bent position.
Therefore we would like to cover some exercises that may lend to leg strength and core strength. I have a hand out that I would like to give to teach family. Please remind me to get the exercise schedule the next time you see me.
Regards,
Coach Dom
