Overcoming a slow start, the Winterhawks AA minor peewees reigned supreme at the Peterborough Kawartha Lakes Tournament for a second straight year. Needing to win its last round-robin game against Upper Ottawa Valley by at least six goals to advance — after dropping the first two games — Milton pulled out an 8-0 rout.
From there, the Winterhawks dispatched Whitby 5-2 in the semifinals and doubled up Upper Ottawa Valley in their championship rematch.Strong goaltending and a balanced attack factored heavily into the tournament win.
